Ok so that didn’t go very well.
I was trying to get at least two posts per week. Last week was a huge failiure. Not to mention I haven’t done anything with my site design yet. That’s so depressing.
I seem to be conjuring more and more work for myself. I guess that’s a good thing to some extent.
Maybe I lose, and I need to adjust my goals: focus on my portfolio and leave this as a temporary website.
May is almost over, I know. I have a huge list of things to accomplish that keeps piling up in my head, and I’m starting to get a big list of client work to work on as well. There are some really important things I need to do but they always get pushed aside by something: Too busy with Project XYZ, too tired from working on Project XYZ, LOST is on TV, etc.
So with season finales, and June just around the corner, I think that some of my goals are still achievable in May if I really work at them. Read the rest of this entry »
My in-laws are just wrapping up building their home. We moved them in just this past weekend. It’s a really nice house as it stands right now, but there are so many tiny finishing touches to complete yet. Lights are missing, wall plug plates are missing, blinds are missing, missing some trim here, some paint there. Otherwise the house is completely livable, and they have contractors running about during the day trying to complete these final items.
During the build, I remember talking with my mother-in-law, and she had this dream and vision on how she wanted her house to be. She planned it down to the last detail. We were talking about some of her plans, and how the contractors missed some things, or failed to follow the plans for others. To me, this all sounded exactly the same as what I was going through with a website I was working on, except I was the contractor.

I feel like a guy who just traded in his Civic for a Porsche.
I mean, my old host wasn’t bad. It was economical, and it did the job. I was using this host for about four years. Most of that was on a free contract. Can’t really complain with that. Once my free promotion ran out, and I began paying for my hosting, I decided that it was worth looking around at my options.
Media Temple is where I ended up. A little late to the game I guess (almost everyone I know is using Media Temple), but that’s ok. Can’t beat free.
Not all marketing is bad. I need to get that on paper first and foremost. I live in the world of advertising and marketing. Albeit I’m not at the forefront. The fruits of my labours are the execution of marketing ideas. My issue with marketing is not that it in itself is wrong, it is how it’s being used.
I was talking with a good friend of mine today; he and I were talking about work and well, complaining I guess. I just recently released an HTML email marketing campaign, and I mentioned that “I feel like I sell my soul to the devil every time I make one of these things.” Read the rest of this entry »
I’m aware that it’s “Sunday, Bloody Sunday”. I’m trying out a play on words as a lament for Monday.
I think my pain is impacted by the fact that I was helping out with my third move for the month of October. My brother moved on the 18th. My wife and I moved into our new place on the 25th, and this past Saturday my brother-in-law moved as well. Read the rest of this entry »
